The Wyda South Africa range of aluminium foil food packaging products includes locally manufactured household and catering foil as well as a wide selection of aluminium trays and containers, in rectangular, square or round shapes and all sizes from single to family size dishes. Several of these come in options of light- or heavy-weight.

One of the most common uses aluminium foil products is in households as they are inexpensive, durable, non-toxic, and greaseproof – and completely recyclable.

Founded in 2016 and based in Spartan, Kempton Park, Wyda SA started production of aluminium foil containers six years ago. Today it operates a 1600 qm2 production and warehousing facility and produces a wide array of products – including the Wyda Easy range for retail – to a wide range of markets from industrial canteens, private households and supermarkets to take-aways and restaurants.

To suit the need for innovative food packaging solutions in the various industries, Wyda SA now offers clients an exciting individual packaging and branding service, including a complete design service at a small extra cost.

To help you with your budget planning and your decision making, Wyda divided its pricing into three categories: restaurants, caterers and private homes, wholesalers, and distributors.

Says Schütte: “In terms of the quantities that we have for sale, wholesalers who can benefit from our products include small exporters and medium suppliers. The Wyda Easy retail range

Wyda Easy includes shrinkwrapped product packs with 10 products each – and have become popular in supermarkets around South Africa. These would be examples of supermarket products for which Wyda now also offers the attractive option of branding your own aluminium foil range.

• Roasting pans which have been shrink-wrapped
• Medium shrink-wrapped containers
• Small, shrink-wrapped take-away containers
• Small, shrink-wrapped Madeira loaf pans
• Small, shrink-wrapped milk tart containers
• Light foil 10m refill

Sustainability

All Wyda SA containers as well as household foil are made out of 100% recycled aluminium. This means that products can be recycled indefinitely without products losing any of their high-quality properties.

All clear polyethylene terephthalate, or PET, lids produced by Wyda SA are made from up to 80% recycled PET, predominantly bottles. These PET lids are all recyclable, and they have the potential to be transformed into synthetic fibres which can be used to make clothing. The board lids produced by Wyda comprise of composites of both paper and laminate which are made from PET. When these composites are separated, both can be recycled.

Food safety certificates

Wyda has recently been awarded a number of food safety certificates:

As the country’s leading aluminium foil food packaging manufacturer, Wyda was awarded the FSSC 22000 System Certification last year. FSSC 22000 is acknowledged by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as a scheme that meets the highest global standards, leading to food industry acceptance on an international scale.
